And bizarrely the extremists told Western jihadists to use crossbows because they are an "easily available weapon".

The message is believed to be a means of encouraging sick jihadis "who do not have the means" to carry out murderous rampages using rudimentary weapons.

West intelligence services have become increasingly efficient at stopping planned large-scale bombings.

That has forced jihadis underground to carry out so-called lone wolf attacks.

Recent examples have seen hundreds killed in attacks on France, Belgium and Germany.

ISIS' increasing success in carrying out the assaults saw the terror group publish a 'beginner's guide' to attacks in which it told followers to refer to lone wolf terrorists as "special services secret agents".

The guide first brought to light the group's puzzling fascination with crossbows when it urged followers to make the "primitive weapons".

And explaining how fundamentalists should carry out target practice, it adds: "You should buy Toy guns (Nerf guns), or Pellet guns or Paintball guns for target practice."
