Theresa May urges world leaders to reconnect with voters as millions face being ‘left behind’ by globalisation

The Prime Minister addressed politicians at the UN to remind them that they are the 'servants' of men, women and children who felt cut off by the increasing pace of globalisation

THERESA May last night told world leaders to reconnect with voters - warning millions are being "left behind" by the increasing pace of globalisation.

In a powerful address to the UN, she said political leaders had to remember they were "servants" of men, women and children who felt cut off.

"The challenge for those of us in this room is to ensure that our governments and our global institutions remain responsive to the people that we serve," she said.

Since becoming PM, Theresa May and her aides have repeatedly stressed the Goverment needs to do more to help 'strivers' - arguing the Brexit vote proved how many felt forgotten in modern day Britain.
