Boy, 14, killed after being hit by a car as he rode his mountain bike
A TEENAGE boy has died after he was involved in a smash with a car while riding his mountain bike.
The youngster, 14, was cycling through Cumbrian village Waberthwaite when he was in a crash with a silver Kia Sorento.
Cops and paramedics rushed to the A595 at Prospect Hill following the horror just after 8pm yesterday.
Despite their efforts, the boy died at the scene.
The road was shut between the hamlets of Lane End and Broad Oak for almost seven hours while investigations were carried out last night.
Today, detectives called for anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesperson at Cumbria Police said: "Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed this incident to contact them.
