The suspects are accusing of knowing what was being planned by Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel before he used 19-tonne lorry to slaughter 86 people on July 14

EIGHT more men have been arrested in connection with the Bastille Day lorry massacre.

They are all former associates of Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, who left 86 dead when he ploughed into fireworks display crowds in Nice, France, on July 14.

Investigators are convinced others knew what was being planned by the 31-year-old Tunisian, who was shot dead by cops.

Prosecutors said the latest suspects, all Tunisian or French, were arrested in coordinated raids across the south of France on Monday.

Six others had previously been held, bringing the total number of suspects to 14.

Three of the men face criminal trial for 'complicity to kill as part of gang related to a terrorist enterprise'.

A further suspect is said to have taken a 'selfie' with 'drug-taking' driver, Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, in the truck just moments before he launched the terror attack.

The crazed 31-year-old driver, who has since been dubbed the 'Bastille Bastard', ploughed the 19-tonne truck through the innocent crowd as they watched a firework display at 10.30pm on the Thursday night in Nice.

He drove the vehicle along the promenade for 30 minutes before being shot dead by police as he sat at the wheel.

Eighty-six people were slaughtered and dozens more injured as the crazed gunman ploughed through men, women and children "like a bowling ball" for more than a mile before opening fire.

The truck was loaded with guns and grenades and ISIS-related groups later celebrated the tragedy online.

Bouhlel's wife's cousin later claimed the attacker was "not religious."

He said: "[Bouhlel] did not go to the mosque, he did not pray, he did not observe Ramadan.

"He drank alcohol, ate pork and took drugs.

"This is all forbidden under Islam.

"He was not a Muslim, he was a s***.

"He beat his wife, my cousin, he was a nasty piece of work."

Despite being described as a "lone wolf killer" anti-terrorist investigators are convinced that others knew what Bouhlel was planning.
