Sick grammar school students drop a brick on squirrel and set it on fire – then post video of shocking attack on Snapchat

PUPILS at a grammar school showed off sick footage of them dropping a brick on a squirrel, lynching it and setting it ablaze using a spray can and a lighter.

The film was posted on Snapchat and Instagram with laughing emojis and the caption: “wtf is wrong with us.”

The boys, believed to be 14 to 15 years old, were hauled in front of the headteacher and claimed the squirrel was dead when they found it.

It is understood they got one-day suspensions and told to do community service.

Mrs Donna Lodge, head of Wilmington School for Boys, in Dartford, Kent, said: “The culprits were interviewed along with their parents.”

Police said they were aware of the video — in which boys are heard laughing and cheering — but had not had any reports of “cruelty to a live animal”.

The RSPCA said: “It is unclear from the footage whether the squirrel is alive this attack. If it was, it would have suffered severely.”

Andrew Tyler, director of Animal Aid, told The Sun: “For the school to accept the squirrel was already dead seems naive — they have no way of knowing that.”

The school was rated “good” at its last Ofsted inspection. Former pupils include Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and actor Mackenzie Crook.
