Artist Lincoln Townley dubbed the ‘new Warhol’ reveals paintings of world’s leading supermodels
Artist Lincoln Townley, husband of telly's Denise Welch, is in huge demand from celebs and collectors around the world
BRIT artist Lincoln Townley has released paintings of the world’s most iconic supermodels.
The artist dubbed the “new Andy Warhol” has captured seven of the world’s most beautiful women on canvas.
Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne, Helena Christensen, Heidi Klum and Christine Brinkley feature in the new series.
The startling works involve haunting images of the women with their first name plastered across their face.
Recovering alcoholic Townley, married to ex-Corrie favourite Denise Welch, was commissioned by Los Angeles Fashion Week.
His artworks will be exhibited at the global event in the US from October 15.
The artist, who earlier this year sold a painting of boxing legend Muhammed Ali for £510,000, chose models who he believes are synonymous with beauty and style.

He said: “Supermodel Cindy Crawford was discovered in an Illinios cornfield by a local newspaper photographer in 1983.
“In my opinion she is the most recognisable face in fashion, Cindy herself holds a record of over 500 magazine covers so when I was commissioned to paint the collection of ICONS devoted to supermodels I was extremely excited.
“These women are incredibly powerful and they seem to just keep delivering.
“I carefully selected faces which have stood the test of time in all aspects of modelling.
“These cover girls have an energy which I couldn’t wait to capture in my own style and I feel the connection between the subject and the muse is very strong, these women ooze the power to communicate with just a glance.”
Townley has achieved global success with paintings of the most famous and influential people in the world.
The London born artist has painted stars including Sir Michael Caine, Al Pacino, Gary Oldman, Dame Judi Dench, John Cleese, Charlie Sheen, Russell Brand, Leonardo Di Caprio and Marlon Brando.
He has also completed works exploring the darker side of human personality.
Earlier this year Lincoln exhibited in Los Angeles where he headlined ‘Brit Week’ and unveiled his works on HM the Queen.
His Music ICONS collection featured David Bowie, which earlier this year sold for £250,000, as well as Morrissey, Elvis, David Gilmour, Peter Hook, Mark Knopfler, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Stewart, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, The Edge, Bono, Kylie, Billy Gibbons, Brian Johnson, Sting, Roger Daltrey, Marc Almond as well as Prince, which sold for £300,000.
James Nicholls, Managing Director and Curator of the Maddox Gallery, Mayfair, London, which has displayed Townley works, said: “In each generation it is a rare occurrence when an artist has the potential to become iconic, and it is our considered opinion that Lincoln Townley is such an extraordinary artist.
“The British artist was relatively unknown four years ago, now he has become famous for creating the most vivid insight into producing electrifying portraits of Hollywood stars.
“Sir Michael Caine recently described him as the new Andy Warhol, and others see a Francis Bacon-like quality in his work.
“The value of his work has risen 200% in the last two years alone.”
Later this year Lincoln Townley will present his Retrospective at a private event at The Saatchi Gallery.
