Eric Boehlert dead – Hillary Clinton leads tributes to journalist who died in crash with train aged 57
HILLARY Clinton has paid tribute to journalist Eric Boehlert after he was killed in a crash with a train - describing his death as a "terrible news".
The former presidential hopeful said she was "devastated" after the renowned media critic, 57, was struck by a train in Montclair, , while on his bike.
"Eric Boehlert's death is terrible news," Clinton wrote on Twitter.
"I’m devastated for his family and friends and will miss his critical work to counteract misinformation and media bias. What a loss."
Boehlert's wife, Tracy Breslin described her husband as the "kindest, most generous and one of the coolest guys you will ever meet."
A frequent bicyclist and runner, Tracy said her husband was biking, enjoying the warm weather when the tragedy unfolded.

Boehlert was a renowned media critic, writer and founder of the Press Run Newsletter, with a mission of delivering “unfiltered, passionate, and proudly progressive critique of the political press in the age of [Donald] Trump.”
A "fierce and fearless defender of journalism," the writer's wife said he was "just as kind" to critics and the media.
"He was a fierce defender of the truth, but as fierce as he was to critics and the media, he was just as kind to them as well," Tracy said.
"Overall, just a really amazing, unique person. Such a good dad."

Prior to his work at Press Run, Boehlert was a senior fellow at Media Matters for America for 10 years and a staff writer for Salon for five years.
He appeared in hundreds of television appearances discussing the media and has been quoted in dozens of publications, including BuzzFeed, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal.
Before that, he wrote about the music industry as a contributing editor to Rolling Stone and as a staff writer at Billboard.
Salon confirmed the news of Boehlert’s death Wednesday on .

According to NJ Transit, a train on the Montclair Boonton Line struck and killed an adult male on a bicycle Monday evening close to the Watchung Avenue station between its 8.59pm departure from Hoboken and its scheduled arrival in Hackettstown at 11.07pm.
