CHILLING MESSAGES

Frantic texts sent by teen killer, 18, as he hid in a garden moments after knifing his ex-girlfriend’s hero dad to death

A TEEN killer sent his gran a series of frantic texts as he hid in a garden just moments after he had knifed his ex-girlfriend’s dad to death.

Levi Westhead, 18, plunged a knife into Mark Webster's chest and penetrated his heart as they scuffled in the dad's back garden.

Lancashire Police have now revealed a series of texts Westhead sent his gran after he was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday.

He wrote: “NAN I LOVE YOU I’M SORRY! I WAS ANGRY SO ANGRY ANSWER THE ALL NOW” and then repeated Nan five times.

The thug had tried to push past the 50-year-old with the knife to confront his on-off girlfriend, then aged 15, during the horror in Blackpool, Lancs.

He had been given a police warning to stay away from the family after the girl's mum complained he had assaulted her.

Dramatic footage released by cops shows officers pinning the knifeman to the ground in the back garden.

He can be seen struggling against being restrained as the police force him into handcuffs.

Westhead has now been jailed for life with a minimum of 17 years after being convicted of murdering the dad-of-two.

Sickeningly, he rolled his eyes as emotional victim impact statements were read to the court by Mark's heartbroken family.

In hers, the daughter described how she dislikes going out but also hates being at home after the killing.

She said: "I can’t believe my dads was taken away from me and my whole family in this horrific situation. My dad was killed by Levi an evil controlling horrible boy.

"He constantly downgraded me and spammed me telling me to kill myself. Me and my dad has a great bond. Every weekend we’d go down the prom and have a little rave with my friend. He loved a certain song - I can’t listen to that anymore.

"I told my dad one day when I had loads of money I’d buy him his dream car and take him to a special place. If I see someone who looks like Levi I freeze. I have terrible nightmares. Life is never going to be the same."

Preston Crown Court heard how Westhead had bombarded the teen girl with messages begging her to speak to him and told her to kill herself.

He waited outside her work but after she ignored him, Westhead showed up at the family home on July 23 armed with a knife.

After Mark refused him access to his daughter, a fight broke out in the back garden and the dad was stabbed.

Tragically he couldn't be saved and died later that day after suffering multiple knife wounds.

Shockingly, Westhead spun a web of lies - claiming he was acting in self defence.

He also said he had no recollection of using the knife and claimed he ended up on the ground with Mark on top of him.

But jurors saw through his story and he was convicted of murder following a trial in January.

His wife Michelle, who had been with the dad she was 16, said: "He was my first and only love. Words cannot begun to describe how heartbroken and devastated I am. We did everything together.

"We doted on each other. He was the love of my life. We had been together 31 years. He was the most placid, funny, loving gentleman.

"That night my Web was taken away was a night I will never forget, and one I will relive on a daily basis.
