Who is Haylei Jordan?

Jordan is the daughter of Laren Sims, a woman who killed her husband under the alias Elisa McNabney.

Growing up, Jordan and her mother were constantly on the move and only spent a year to six months at a place, according to .

However, they eventually settled down in Reno, Nevada, and later Sacramento, California, after Sims married California attorney and horse enthusiast Larry McNabney, who she met while working at his law office.

Despite what seemed like a perfect family, in September 2001, Sims and her friend Sarah Dutra murdered McNabney by injecting him with a horse tranquilizer, forcing her and Jordan to flee to Arizona and later Florida.

“At this point I still had no idea what was happening in Sacramento,” Jordan said. “But [leaving] Arizona had really just reinforced to me that this was going to be my life to continue protecting my mom from whatever is chasing her.”

On March 20, 2002, Sims then turned herself in after she was found on a beach in Destin, Florida.

She later died by suicide while in police custody for her husband's murder awaiting extradition back to California.

Due to her mother's arrest, Jordan spent the majority of her life staying out of the public eye as not much information is available on her personal life.

Where is she now?

After her mother's death, Jordan moved back to Brooksville, Florida, and earned her Master's degree in nursing, later welcoming two children of her own, reports.

“I came home to the town that I was born and raised in, but I hadn't seen my family in almost a decade,” Jordan told ABC.

“I didn't know what to do, because the only thing I had ever done was make sure that my mom was okay.”

She later went on to tell the media outlet that she believes her mother was a victim of domestic violence, which taught her that no one should feel trapped in an unsafe situation.

"You never have to stay in a situation that you don't feel safe, a situation that you question," she continued.

"You have a right to feel safe and you have a right to whatever future you're willing to make."
