Passenger plane with 119 on board ‘damaged in mid-flight lightning strike’

The Jetblue plane from New York's JFK airport was forced to make an emergency landing after the terrifying incident

A PASSENGER plane with 119 people on board has been "damaged in mid-flight lightning strike".

The Jetblue flight was heading to Bermuda from New York's JFK airport when it was struck by lightning.

The crew declared an emergency and diverted to Logan airport in Boston for an emergency landing.

It landed without incident at around 9.25am local time, according to CBS Boston.

No injuries were reported and it is thought everyone disembarked safely.

The Federal Aviation Administration are now probing the lightning strike.
