Three children among 4 dead in horror car accident in Clinton Township, Ohio, as school pays tribute to victims

A CRASH late Saturday night in Ohio took the lives of four people, including three children, said the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

According to police, Zane Hull, 21, was driving eastbound on the highway around 11:48pm. At the same time, Muriel Michael, 28, was driving southbound with four passengers.

Police said Hull failed to yield the right of way and struck Michael.

Two of the passengers in Michael’s vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene; Xavier Brown, 25, and an unnamed child.

Hull received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. Michael was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.

The other two children in Michael's car were also rushed to the hospital. However, it was announced Sunday by Superintendent Eric Smola that the two children had died - a first grader and a fourth-grader.

The death of the third child was confirmed by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on Sunday, bringing the death toll to four.

Michael is currently in the hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.

“Today’s loss of two Evergreen Elementary students and their family members is devastating to the Viking community,” read a statement by Superintendent Smola.

“On behalf of Evergreen Local Schools, our hearts, prayers, and condolences go out to all who were involved in the tragic auto accident.

“In addition to its counseling team, Evergreen will also have therapy dogs and counselors from neighboring school districts and agencies available this week to help our students and staff cope with this incredibly sad loss.”

Evergreen Elementary School is located in Metamora in Fulton County.

It is possible that not all passengers we wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, however, the incident remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is referring the case to county officials for potential charges.
