A WOMAN is desperate to move house, claiming a noisy manhole cover is making her life hell.
Mellissa Rossetti, 56, says her home in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, shakes every time lorries or cars drive over the damaged road surface and cover.
She also says the damaged manhole cover is leaving cracks in the walls of her property where she has lived for six years.
Severn Trent Water say it is not their responsibility.
Rossetti said: "It does cause a lot of noise, especially at night. When lorries go over it, this whole building shakes.
“There are cracks in the building which I think have been caused by the building shaking.

"I've lived here for six years and the manhole cover has been getting slowly worse.
“It was very noticeable when they were doing the roadworks on the Joiners Square roundabout as it led to a backlog of traffic here.
“There was a constant bombardment of traffic coming here when they were doing the roundabout. I've had trouble sleeping.
"When the traffic is constant here during rush hour it sounds like a train running over tracks.

"Then after 8pm is when the bigger lorries use this road and that's when my building shakes.
“I'll be sat quietly at night with my four cats and they jump up and run round if the noisy manhole really startles them and the building shakes if a lorry has gone over.
"It has been getting on my nerves.
"It's been driving me a bit mad.

“I do wonder how much damage there is, it's a bit worrying. Just recently I've been looking at other properties. I want to get away from it."
