Cops arrest man at Heathrow airport on suspicion of possessing terrorist material

A 39-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of possessing terrorist related material.

The man was arrested yesterday after arriving in the UK, and is now in custody in a west London police station.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "A man has been arrested for an offence under the Terrorism Act.

"The 39-year-old man was arrested after arriving at Heathrow Airport on Saturday, 17 September.

"He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing terrorist related material under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000."

He added: "The man was arrested under PACE legislation and taken to a west London police station where he remains in custody.

"The Met's Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) is investigating."

Flights were not disrupted as a result of the incident.
