The policeman was first charged with raping a woman in a hotel room on 5 September 2020 after meeting her on a Tinder date.

His sex offence charges previously totalled 29 against eight different women - for alleged attacks between 2009 and 2020.

These included 13 counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault and three counts of assault by penetration.

But last week, Carrick, from Stevenage, Herts, was slapped with 12 more sex offence charges.

The cop from the Met's Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command now faces a total of 41 charges - and this morning he appeared in court for the new allegations.

Carrick attended Westminster Magistrates' Court today via videolink from HMP Belmarsh.

The new charges include two counts of rape, one of attempted rape, and two of assault by penetration.

Police confirmed the charges were against three new complainants, dated between 2003 and 2015.

Three further counts of rape and four of sexual assault relate to one complainant already a part of the prosecution - with these new offences said to have taken place between 2018 and 2020.

Seven of the 12 new charges relate to one of the existing eight victims. The remaining five relate to three new victims.

Prosecutor Thom Dyke said: "The 12 charges are to be sent to join up with the 29."

Patrick Hill, defending, said at Westminster Magistrates' Court today: "There is already a 29-count indictment against Mr Carrick.

"One of the complainants, the first, is a complainant who is already before the Crown Court. These are further charges.";

The additional 12 charges will merge with the existing indictment and Carrick, was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing at the Old Bailey tomorrow.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “We recognise that these are extremely serious and concerning allegations.

“Referrals have been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct as the investigation has progressed.
