The violent attack came as the pair were drinking together in a group outside their barracks and Pt Milner was seen taking pictures with the male soldier.

The court heard Pt Waters had "stormed over" to the pair, spilling a drink over Pt Milner and "snatching" a phone from them earlier that evening.

Later, Pt Waters "attacked" Pt Milner, punching her in the face multiple times and breaking her nose in a "jealous" fury.

Pt Waters denied one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, claiming she acted in self-defence during the incident in June last year.

But she was convicted after a two day trial at Bulford Military Court, Wiltshire, and was handed a suspended sentence on Friday.

Pt Waters was also ordered to pay £1,200 in compensation to Pt Milner.

Group Captain Stephen Wetton, prosecuting, said members of 1 Medical Regiment were drinking on a Saturday evening outside their accommodation block in Tidworth Camp, Wilts, when violence erupted.

Pt Milner told the court: "Me and Private Lemon started taking pictures on his phone and then I felt a bottle thrown at me on my hip.

"I carried on, just ignored the fact I had a bottle thrown at me and carried on having a laugh.

"Pt Waters stormed in between us... she came barging through the middle, snatched the phone and my drink, a whole glass of gin, was spilled over me.

"She went inside with Pt Lemon. I went inside to confront her in the common room. I said 'Why the f*** did you do that?'

"She just smiled and said 'I don't know'.

"I went upstairs to get changed because I was soaking wet, filled my drink up in my room and came back down to the party.

"I saw Pt Lemon go into his room so I just followed him in to ask him not to stop having fun just because of what's just happened.

"I didn't realise but she was in his bathroom in his room. All I could hear was 'get the f*** out Charlotte' but I said no because it wasn't her room.

"She came out of the bathroom to attack me, running at me really aggressively, but Pt Lemon held her to the floor."

Bulford Military Court, Wilts, heard Pt Milner left the room but was attacked by Pt Waters later on, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

'PUNCHED ME IN THE FACE'

She added: "I was on my phone, facing a wall. Out of nowhere I'm pushed. My head smashes against the wall in front of me.

"I felt the force of her pushing me and my face hitting off the wall.

"When I turned around Pt Waters was there and she punched me in the face multiple times.

"I would say it was nine out of ten force, it was painful.

"I wasn't hitting her back at all, I just stood there letting her do it until someone dragged her away from me.

"My nose popped out of nowhere and there was blood everywhere, all down my white clothes and joggers."

The court heard Pt Milner had to have an x-ray which revealed her nose had been broken.

Bob Scott, defending, said Pt Milner was trying to make Pt Waters "jealous" while taking pictures with Pt Lemon.

He said: "While you were doing this, you were looking at Pt Waters as if to say, 'look what I'm doing'.

"The fact is, this was an occasion where you were trying to make Pt Waters jealous with all this business with Pt Lemon.

"You went on to Pt Lemon's room to drag him out of bed because he was not being very sociable."
