Colin Powell’s personal emails calling Trump ‘national disgrace’ leaked by Russian hackers

EX-SECRETARY of State Colin Powell’s embarrassing email leak was the result of raid by a gang of Russian cyber-hackers, it was claimed yesterday.

Red-faced Powell, 79, branded Trump a “national disgrace” and alleged that Bill Clinton was still “d****** bimbos” in the unauthorised release of his personal emails.

He was also shown to have labelled the Trump-backed “birther movement” – which questioned whether American President Barack Obama was born in the US – as “racist.”

His emails were posted on obscure website DCLeaks, which was launched by American hacktivists.

But analysts at cyber-security firm ThreatConnect say that its registration and web hosting data align with a known Russian military intelligence hacker group - dubbed Fancy Bear.

Analysts claim it has links with the Russian government – which has denied being behind the leaks.

The gang were said to be responsible for the leaked data of US athletes this week – showing that Serena Williams and star gymnast Simone Biles received medical exemptions to use banned drugs.

Rich Barger, CIO of ThreatConnect, said: “Folks have to say ‘where is this information coming from?’ and not just focus only on the information.

“If the hackers have 100 documents, they can only choose to give 25 of them, because the rest don’t fit their narrative.”
