Lincoln prison guard ‘taken hostage by inmates’ as ‘riots get out of control’
A PRISON guard had reportedly been beaten and taken hostage by three inmates after a riot broke out at Lincoln Prison.
Riot cops are said to have been scrambled to the West Midlands prison after inmates "went mad" and started trashing the place.
The Ministry of Justice has refuted the claims and said there is no hostage situation, all prisoners are in their cells, but they are dealing with an "ongoing incident" in a single wing of the prison.
A MoJ spokeswoman refused to give further details.
Visitors have not been allowed entry into the prison today.
An inmate had claimed a prison officer was being held hostage and is "all red" after being "punched and kicked" by convicts.
The prisoner phoned the Lincolnshire Echo local paper from C-wing and told them: "They have got him in a cell - it's a hostage situation."
"I heard them shouting 'We've got him, we've got him. They were punching and kicking him - he was all red."
It was reported that police with riot shields and a dog team were on the scene this afternoon.
