'DON'T SLIP LIKE DADDY'

Steven Gerrard trolled by heartless footie fans after posting picture of his daughter’s first day back at school

Many of the comments taunted him but some referred to the youngsters appearance, causing others to leap to his defence

FORMER Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is the latest star to be trolled after posting proud pictures of his daughter's first day at primary school.

The ex-England captain uploaded a picture of his young daughter Lourdes smartly dressed in her new school uniform, like any proud parent would, and added the words: "So proud of my little princess. First day at big school."

But among the messages of congratulations and comments on how cute the youngster looked, trolls were quick to leave cruel and taunting messages on the 36-year-old's Instagram page.

Commenters referred to a slip by the player which led to Liverpool dropping points against Chelsea in their bid for the Premier League title.

One person posted: "Don't slip like daddy."

Another, called footballerspaidtoomuch, wrote: "Is this not something you keep to yourself as a personal memory? Some craps pops up on instagram need to remove this."

While much of the abuse was referring to mistakes made in football matches, some of the shocking comments included offensive and inappropriate jibes about the four-year-old girls appearance.

Gerrard's fans got behind him however, with many calling out the trolls and leaving messages of support for the legendary player.

Misskee_3 wrote: "How many have to put horrible and awful things on posts for then their account to be private it's all wrong these people should be names and shamed who calls a 4 1/2 yr old girl a slut it's an absolute disgrace."

Another told footballerspayedtoomuch: "Just cuz he is sharing that his daughter is starting school doesn't make him a crap father. What parent doesn't share that to social media.

"He's proud of his daughter, just like any other parent would be of there kid starting school."

But his fans responded with messages of support and wishing the little girl luck on her first day

But this didn't deter the trolls, with one writing "he's already got all the teachers licking her ass bet you" and "Stevan gerra gerra, sliped on his f***** ass and gave it demba ba steven garrad".

The youngster is starting school close to the family home in Formby, Merseyside, as the father-of-three sees out his deal in California.

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, 20, was also attacked on Instagram when he shared a picture of daughter Melody-Rose, four, in her school uniform this month.
