Spurs star Harry Kane and ex-England striker Peter Crouch have both been spotted at the posh club.

Emergency services were called to the club house building just before 10pm last night after the fire was discovered.

A probe has been launched into what could have sparked the huge blaze in the club house.

Specialist crew and eight engines from Surrey Fire and Rescue got to the scene within minutes, with some remaining at the club this morning.

Surrey Police said it was informed as a matter of protocol but did not need to attend.

A source said: “The fire has significantly damaged the club house, but thankfully nobody was injured during the incident.

“It did not affect the hotel, the spa or the restaurant so they have been able to open and remain fully operational.”

Surrey Fire and Rescue said: “We received a call last night around 10pm to a report of a fire at Beaverbrook Golf Club, Reigate Road, Leatherhead.

“Eight fire engines have been sent in total, alongside some specialist crews. The first arrived at the scene around 10.10pm.

“A fire had broken out, damaging the entirety of the building and its basement. Crews remain at the scene.”

Surrey Police added: “We were called shortly after 10pm yesterday following reports of a fire at Beaverbrook Golf Course in Leatherhead.

“This was purely for awareness as this is protocol and there was no need for officers to attend.”

Jorge de Jesus, Group General Manager, said: “I want to express our deepest gratitude to the Surrey Fire & Rescue Service for their professional response.”

The popular golf course is located on grounds which was owned by the late Lord Beaverbrook and is regularly voted in the top 100 clubs in the world.

It was reported developing the grounds had cost in the region of £90million and the course is a private members-only business.

Lord Maxwell Beaverbrook owned the estate, but it fell into disrepair when he died – with David Macklay Kidd and eight-time major winner Tom Watson helped to transform the property.

The pair opened the club in 2016, before adding the luxury country hotel and restaurant the following year – attracting a series of famous faces.
