Pupils expelled after making DIY FLAMETHROWER at school

TWO pupils were kicked out of school for trying to make a DIY flamethrower out of an aerosol can.

The incident on the Isle of Wight was among nearly 1,500 involving kids bringing weapons into the classroom.

In another alarming report, a schoolgirl turned her lipstick into a Killing Eve-style knife — attaching a blade to the end and threatening another pupil.

In Oldham, officials admitted to 67 incidents, including a pupil shooting another in the leg with a BB gun.

There was a similar incident in Bradford.

One pupil was expelled for attacking another with a shard of glass in North Yorkshire while another threw scissors.

In Durham, where the lipstick incident took place, a pupil was injured in an assault by another using a pencil sharpener blade.

Freedom of Information requests revealed 1,490 expulsions last year involving weapons, although many local authorities did not provide data.

Campaign for Real Education chairman Christopher McGovern said: “The breakdown of order on our streets is spilling over into schools.”

The Department for Education said it was providing targeted support in the worst-hit areas.
