THEY NEED YOUR HELP

Here’s how YOU can help the one million innocent refugees fleeing Ukraine

MORE than one million refugees have fled Ukraine in the past week according to United Nations figures.

Officials fear as many as four million will be forced out by July in the biggest single movement of people since World War Two.

Nearly 550,000 have already reached Poland.

Hungary, Moldova, Slovakia and Romania have also welcomed refugees, such as the mum and baby pictured right.

Boris Johnson says the UK could take in 200,000.

At the Romanian border there are queues of up to 20 hours to enter.

The UN yesterday warned of “the biggest refugee crisis this century”.

High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said: “In just seven days, one million people have fled Ukraine, uprooted by this senseless war. Rarely have I seen an exodus as rapid as this one.

“Minute by minute, more people are fleeing the terrifying reality of violence. Countless have been displaced inside the country.

“And unless there is an immediate end to the conflict, millions more are likely to be forced to flee.

“International solidarity has been heartwarming.

“But nothing — nothing — can replace the need for the guns to be silenced; for dialogue and diplomacy to succeed.”

QUEEN DONATES

THE Queen has made a “generous donation” to help victims of Putin’s war in Ukraine.

Her Majesty sent her gift to the Disasters Emergency Committee, which has set up a Ukrainian fund to help the hundreds of thousands of families fleeing the conflict.

The DEC tweeted: “Many thanks to Her Majesty the Queen for continuing to support the Disasters Emergency Committee and for making a generous donation to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.”

The Sun’s own Ukraine Fund is raising money in aid of the Red Cross, which is one of the 15 leading charities that form the DEC. You can help by donating online at
