The 51-year-old has gone on trial accused of racially aggravated harassment between June 28 and August 19 last year.

Prosecutor Jonathan Dunn said Blurton posted an offensive note through the women's letterbox which referred to the terror organisation in Syria.

He is also accused of shouting at them by calling them "ISIS slags" and saying he would "burn the holy Koran" and "slice them up".

Today Derby Crown Court heard the women moved into the property in 2014 and originally there were no problems.

Giving evidence, one of the neighbours said the abuse stopped for a while once police were called but that it started again after a period of time.

She said: "(It) will be quiet and then we would hear racist remarks such as 'hope the dirty Pakis die'." She said Blurton told them he would "slice us up".

Blurton denies the charge. The trial continues.
