Drunken Scot who forced US-bound British Airways flight to divert refuses to apologise after landing back in the UK
Witnesses said the 24-year-old Scot was drunkenly wandering around the plane asking to get off
A DRUNKEN Scot who caused chaos on a transatlantic BA flight has been pictured sneaking back into Britain after spending four days in custody in the US.
David Marchetti, 24, forced a flight to Orlando, Florida, to divert to Boston, Massachusetts, due to his antics.
Marchetti, from Glasgow, was held in custody by US officials before he was allowed to return to the UK.
He arrived back at Heathrow on Monday morning and quietly made his way outside to have a cigarette, not taking the opportunity to apologise to his fellow passengers for his actions.
On his flight to the US from Gatwick last week, Marchetti had downed a dozen miniature bottles of wine before telling cabin crew that he wanted to get off the plane.
Witnesses described seeing him staggering around the plane before being babysat by two cabin crew members for the remainder of the flight.
Passenger Mark Christie, 30, from Aberdeen, told MailOnline: “The drunk guy got on the flight and became increasingly more drunk.
“Then he started wandering around and asking if he could get off. I think that was the worry.
“Eventually he needed to be baby-sat by two cabin crew at a time.
“Then the pilot came through to try and calm him down. And he obviously decided it was better to land in Boston.”
British garage band Gorgon City were also on the flight, heading for a gig in Florida.
They wrote on Twitter: “Some drunk t*** assaulted staff on @BritishAirways flight and now in Boston instead of Orlando. Be there soon tho!”
The pilot called air traffic control to tell them he would be forced to divert the plant to Boston's Logan airport due to an abusive passenger on board.
He added: "His behaviour is highly unpredictable."
Police were waiting for Marchetti when the Boeing 777 landed in Boston.
He spent four days in the custody of the US Customs and Border Protection service before being put on a plane back to the UK on Sunday evening.
Marchetti was not arrested by US police but will have to fly back to the country for a later court appearance.
A US customs spokesman said: "The Massachusetts State Police have issued a summons to the subject for interfering with a flight crew.
"The summons requires him to return to Massachusetts for a court appearance."
