Horror moment rampaging tank totally CRUSHES car in Kyiv & reverses over it as driver miraculously survives

THIS is the horrifying moment a rampaging tank totally crushed a car and then reversed over it again in Kyiv.

The extraordinary footage has emerged amid clashes on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital during the Russian invasion.

Shocking video - understood to have been taken in the Obolon district, five miles form the city centre - shows the armoured vehicle moving erratically through the streets of Kyiv.

The lone tank is believed to be a Strela-10, a anti-aircraft vehicle used by both the Russian and Ukrainian armies.

And it is believed to have been driven by pro-Russian "saboteurs" - who also stole a military truck before they were killed by soldiers.

Terrified onlookers took videos of the tracked vehicle moving erratically as it drove over pavements and at one point seemingly lost control.

The rampage comes to a climax when the tank drives into a dark coloured sedan next to a tram track.

It then reverses over the car once again.

Footage as to what happened to the tank next is missing, but further videos and photos show onlookers rushing to the driver's aid.

Miraculously, the elderly man behind the wheel appears to have survived the ordeal as passersby attempt to free him using an axe.

Local esident Viktor Berbash, 58, said he ran out to his balcony after he heard shooting on Friday morning.

"I saw an armoured vehicle and there was automatic fire. And here this car, with probably an anti-aircraft gun on it, was already here."

He added: "Two armoured vehicles were driving along the road, and the second of them deliberately drove into the oncoming lane.

"It was not by chance, it was for fun, there was no need for this. And it just ran into this car. Stopped, reversed over it again and drove on."

The Ukrainian ministry of defence said the clash had been provoked by "an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group".

Kyiv officials had said "the enemy" is in Obolon.

There have been reports of Russian soldiers stealing Ukrainian uniforms and vehicles before heading to Kyiv.

The bulk of Vladimir Putin's army is still believed to be at least 20 miles from the city, but the first skirmishes have begun.

It comes as citizens were urged to take up arms, make up Molotov cocktail fire bombs, and to use commercial drones to defend their homes.

Some 18,000 assault rifles have been handed out to residents and general mobilisation has been ordered in a bid to protect their homes.

And there are reports of men in civilian clothes carrying AK-47s in the city centre.

Pictures also showed a Ukrainian military truck and dead men wearing Ukrainian military uniforms who were allegedly actually disguised Russians.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had already warned about the threat from "subversive groups" in the city this morning when he addressed Ukraine.

t is feared that Russian special forces could be attempting to sow chaos and take out key officials - potentially Zelenskyy himself - to pave the way for the invasion.

Other attackers may have been Russian "saboteurs" or "sleeper cells" who are loyal to Putin and who have been lying in wait in Ukraine for the assault.

Kyiv's deputy defence minister Anna Maliar said Russian forces had seized Ukrainian army trucks and uniforms earlier on Friday.

She said they were acting as an advanced guard for a larger convoy of Putin's forces heading "at speed" for Kyiv.

It came as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that he was "number one" on Putin's kill list and the US said that Putin may attempt to "decapitate" the government of Ukraine.

Russian troops yesterday took control of the Chernobyl disaster zone - the shortest route to Kyiv from Belarus.

And last night, a Russian jet was reportedly been shot down in a fireball over Kyiv as Vladimir Putin prepares to besiege the city of 2.9million people.

Ukrainians have been warned they now face their "hardest day" with an expected all out offensive by the Russians.

At least 137 Ukrainians are already dead across the country at the hands of Putin's forces after the assault began at 3.30am on Thursday.

Kyiv faces an uncertain future as the country comes under attack from air, land and sea by Russia.

US intelligence now fears Putin could topple the Kyiv in just 96 hours as Russian forces move within just 20 miles after seizing nearby Chernobyl.

Ukrainian sources said they agreed the capital would be surrounded within the next four days.

But they insisted the government would not collapse.

Ukrainians remain defiant and have put up a staunch resistance to the Russian invaders.

However, they find themselves facing an uphill struggle as Putin brings his massive military to bear against his neighbour.

Russia is believed to have suffered heavy losses - with as many as 800 invaders being killed.

World leaders have all condemned Russia's actions yesterday which saw Europe plunged into its biggest crisis since World War 2.

Heavy sanctions designed to strangle Putin's regime are now being levied against Russia.

But it's questioned whether this will be enough to stop Moscow.

Another day of bloodshed lies ahead for Ukraine - with all eyes now on the capital to see if Putin will be able to breakthrough.

It is believed Russia want to take control of the city and install a compliant puppet regime.

After another night of battles across the country, Ukraine's Interior Ministry claimed a Russian aircraft was shot down over Kyiv.

It reportedly crashed down into a residential building and set it on fire.

Ukrainian troops have also battled Russian tank units in Ivankiv, north of Kyiv, as they travel south.

Separate air raid sirens have been heard in the major Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Odessa, sparking fears of a major coordinated onslaught on a number of population centres.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba described the invasion as "horrific", comparing it to an assault by the Nazis.

";Last time our capital experienced anything like this was in 1941 when it was attacked by Nazi Germany," he said.

"Ukraine defeated that evil and will defeat this one. Stop Putin. Isolate Russia. Sever all ties. Kick Russia out of everywhere."

A Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson claims 83 pieces of Ukrainian ground military infrastructure have been destroyed.

It comes shortly after Ukrainian forces appeared to have secured a major victory with the successful recapture of Kyiv's Antonov airport, 20 miles northwest of the city.

US officials say they fear the city will fall in the next four days and the government of President Voldymyr Zelenskyy will be toppled within a week.

President Zelenskyy earlier announced 137 people had died in the first day of fierce fighting as he vowed to stay in his country until the bitter end.

"They're killing people and turning peaceful cities into military targets," he said.

"It's foul and will never be forgiven."
