The man aged 37 was held after a CCTV shot of a shaven-headed suspect was released.

She managed to leave the store and was making her way towards her car when the thug followed her still yelling derogatory comments.

A 40-year-old passerby tried to intervene but he was smacked over the head with a bottle and bag of ice.

The thug then turned his attention back to the terrified woman and kicked her full pelt in the stomach causing her to fall to the floor in pain.

The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment but sadly her baby couldn't be saved.

Police are now appealing for witnesses who saw the sickening attack in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire, last month.

They have not yet revealed how pregnant the victim was or her race.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: " At around 9.40pm on Saturday 6 August, the victim a 34 year-old woman, was in the Co-op on Water Eaton Road, Bletchley when she was approached by a man who directed racial remarks at her.

"The offender followed the woman to her car and then assaulted a second victim, a 40–year-old man, by hitting him over the head with a bag of ice and a bottle.

"The offender then kicked the first victim in the torso causing her to fall to the floor.

"The first victim was pregnant and as a result of the assault she lost her baby."

The victim was rushed to Milton Keynes General Hospital for treatment and she was later discharged.

However, doctors dealt her the tragic news that her baby had died in the shocking attack.

Cops have now released a CCTV image of a man who they believe can help them with their investigation.

Investigating officer, Police Constable Richard Armitage said: "This racially aggravated assault had absolutely devastating consequences for the victim, who lost her baby as a result of the attack. Our thoughts are with her and her family at this incredibly difficult and sad time.

"A thorough investigation is underway and we would like to speak to the man pictured as he may have information which could help with the investigation.

"If you recognise the man in the CCTV image or have any information about this incident please contact me via the Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101."
