Is the iPhone 7 waterproof? We tested Apple’s claims by dropping the gadget down a TOILET
See what happens when the hottest gadget in the world gets some very harsh treatment
Apple said the iPhone 7 was so waterproof it would survive a plunge into a swimming pool.
So we decided to test out the claims by dropping it into a toilet - something few readers will want to do with their £599 smartphone.
Strictly, the new iPhone is actually water-resistant NOT waterproof.
It's IP67 rated, which means you'll be able to take a shower with no problem, but probably wouldn't want to to take it with you on a deep dive.
We dunked the phone into a toilet here at News UK headquarters, in London Bridge, and it lived to tell the tale.
When we rescued it from its yucky resting place, the device was still functioning and even managed to record footage of its unfortunate fate.
We gave it a quick towel dry and the phone appeared to be working perfectly.
But then the worst part of the test happened: we received a call and had to answer a £599 phone that had just been thrown into the toilet.
So we can confirm that Apple is telling the truth about its water-resistant iPhone.
