A WOULD-BE jihadist strangled his mother with a shoelace yesterday after she tried to stop him going to fight in Syria.
The French fanatic, 25, is said to have confessed he turned on his mum, 62, when she begged him not to join ISIS.
Police arrested the would-be jihadi - who has not been identified - standing over his mother’s corpse at her home in the northern port of Le Havre at 5.30am.
Officers were investigating reports the jobless man had been radicalised online in recent weeks, despite never having attended his local mosque.
