Armed cops storm house and shoot dead berserk Pit Bull as injured woman hid upstairs
Two people, a 40-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, had been bitten by the out of control hound
ARMED cops stormed a house in which a woman was trapped and seriously injured upstairs before shooting dead a pitbull.
The home in Harrogate, Yorks., was raided by police in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Two people, a 40-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, had been bitten by the out of control American pitbull.
The woman then got trapped in the upstairs bedroom of the house while the dog remained downstairs, allegedly trying to bite others.
A firearms officer then shot the berserk dog when it became clear it could not be controlled.
A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "The dog was extremely aggressive and still in the property when officers arrived.
"The injured woman was also still inside the property.
"Efforts were made to try and control the dog in order to reach the woman, who was in need of urgent medical assistance.
"A firearms trained officer was required to swiftly resolve the incident, which has resulted in the destruction of the American Pit Bull type animal."
The man and woman were treated for their injuries as firefighters attended the scene but were not needed.
Cops are now investigating how the incident occurred.
