BOOZIN' WHILE BHS BURNED

Shameless ‘Sir Shifty’ Philip Green pictured spraying champagne just months after selling store for just £1

UNDER-pressure tycoon spotted spending last summer partying on Greek island after leaving department store with £500milllion pensions black hole

SIR Philip Green was spraying friends and family with champagne just months after selling BHS to a serial bankrupt for £1.

New photos from last summer show how the businessman, nicknamed ‘Sir Shifty’, appeared to move on quickly from the infamous deal that eventually led to 11,000 people losing their jobs.

The retail magnate sold the department store to Dominic Chappell in March of 2015 but not before taking millions of pounds out of the company and leaving a pensions black hole worth £571million.

The pictures show the sun-kissed fat cat, who is worth around £4billion, dousing himself and partygoers, which included the singer Lionel Richie, with champagne on the Greek island of Mykonos.

He can be seen enjoying himself with his daughter Chloe, 25, as the pair find themselves drenched in Veuve Clicquot – champagne that costs £35 a bottle.

Plenty of empties can be seen scattered around the room as the guests spray the bubbly around and more crates are brought in.

Yesterday the shamed boss, 64, released a statement insisting he was working on a “daily basis” to resolve the store’s sorry state of affairs that threatens the livelihoods of his former staff.

While thousands of BHS workers find themselves in financial difficulties after the department store shut its doors for the last time in August, the billionaire has embarked on another summer of lavish partying.

The Green family splashed £100million on their third yacht, called Lionheart, which measures the length of a football pitch and boasts hot tubs, a swimming pool and a helipad.

Over the last few months they have been snapped enjoying themselves in the Greek islands, the Italian Riviera and the island of Malta.
