‘EVIL B*STARD’

I saved soap star from being groped by Jimmy Savile – I wish I’d smashed him to bits, says Stormin’ Norman Buckland

A GYPSY fighter has revealed how he saved a young TV actress from being molested by pervert Jimmy Savile.

Bare knuckle brawler Stormin’ Norman Buckland, 58, from Aylesbury, Bucks was working as a minder at stadium concert when the incident happened in 1997.

In his book The New Guv'nor, out this month, Buckland tells how he pulled Savile off the terrified girl.

He then hit a bodyguard who stepped in to protect paedophile Savile before grabbing the perverted telly star by the throat.

The incident happened at Michael Jackson’s HIStory tour concert at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield.

Buckland was minding merchandise stalls where the young actress, who had recently quit one of Britain’s top soaps, was working selling memorabilia to fans.

In his book, 20-stone Norman recalls: “The merchandise game was a nasty little business, with every little firm wanting the punters at the event buying their bit of clobber.

“We were the heavies who were there to make sure that nobody stepped on our boss’s toes.

“On this occasion there was very little bother. Except for one little incident that involved a well-known celebrity, Jimmy Savile.

“I don’t like putting this evil b****rd on a pedestal but back then, in 1997, he was a big deal and stupidly people seemed to like him.

“I was just having a walk about, making sure no one was taking the pee, when I spotted this little sod harassing the merchandise crew.

“One of these young girls on the team was a bit of a model, and an up-and-coming actress as well. I won’t mention her name ’cos she’s big news these days.

“She seemed to be handling the situation okay and this young man, who I think was her boyfriend, looked like he had the situation under control, so I walked away and left them to it.

“But about half hour later I was having another mooch about and spotted low-life Savile harassing the young girl again. Only this time he had his hands all over her and the boyfriend was being spoken to by this b*****d’s burly gorilla of a minder.

I’d seen enough so I steamed over to put the block on him. I growled at the top of my voice, ‘Oi, you dirty c***. Put your hands back in their holster before I do you a bit of damage!’

“Anyway, I’d seen enough so I steamed over to put the block on him.

“I growled at the top of my voice, ‘Oi, you dirty c***. Put your hands back in their holster before I do you a bit of damage!’

“Savile replied back, all entitled like he owned the place ‘Now then my good man, do you know who I am?’

“‘Yes, I f****n’ do, you low-life! Now move away before I really lose me rag!’

“I glanced over and noticed the girl looked all worried, so I nodded my head and winked as if to say, step away, and she immediately moved a few paces back.

“With that the gorilla stepped up. I gave him an open-palm slap and almost took his head off. It didn’t knock him out, but it was enough for him to keep out of my way.

“Then, I grabbed the scrawny little shell-suit-wearing wrong-un round the throat and whispered to him, saying, ‘Look here you horrible little wrong-un, I know exactly who you are.

“’I’ve never f****n’ liked you, and you’re starting to annoy me. Now, f*** off before I drag you up on that stage and show you up for the depraved little s**t you are!’"

Norman says Savile "didn't hand about" and him and his minders "had it away".

He goes on: “A few months later I was doing a show around Christmas time and my pal said, ‘Ere Norm, look who’s over there. It’s your best pal!'

“I said ‘Now then, now then, now then!’ and looked over, gave him a scowl and a growl, and he behaved like a choirboy for the rest of the night.

“With hindsight, I wish I’d have smashed him to pieces when I had the chance, ’cos if I’d ripped off his winkle, he wouldn’t have had the urge to molest all those innocent little kids, now would he?”

With hindsight, I wish I’d have smashed him to pieces... if I’d ripped off his winkle, he wouldn’t have had the urge to molest all those innocent little kids, now would he?

Savile, a DJ and TV personality, died in 2011 and was exposed as a paedophile the following year.

A joint Scotland Yard and NSPCC report branded him one of the UK’s most prolific known sexual predators.

It's estimated he sexually assaulted hundreds of women and children in a campaign of abuse lasting more than 50 years.

Norman, dubbed the Guv'nor of Aylesbury, is an ex bare-knuckle champion and saw off dozens of gangland minders in his time.
