Danish motorway killer who dropped rock from bridge onto driver ‘inspired by Netflix horror series Slasher’
Police on island of Funen say murder of German tourist could be copycat killing based on show
POLICE have speculated that a killer who murdered a woman by dropping a rock from a motorway overpass was inspired by a TV show.
A German tourist on the Danish island of Funen died after a 30kg stone tile was hurled onto her car on 21 August.
The woman, 33, was killed and the 36-year-old male driver was seriously hurt, while the couple’s son, five, was lucky to escape injury.
Cops probing the horrific and unprovoked murder have now said it could have been inspired by popular Netflix murder series Slasher.
Funen Police Commissioner Michael Lichtenstein told : “In connection with our investigation we have been made aware of a Netflix series that includes an episode in which a person throws a concrete block down on a driving car.
“The series is called ‘Slasher’.”

The programme is about a couple who move to a fictional town in Canada where a series of gruesome copycat murders begin to take place.
In the third episode a woman is killed after a concrete block is dropped onto her car from a bridge – prompting fears the incident on Funen was itself a copycat of the fictional TV slaying.
And the incident on the island is not the only one of its kind in Denmark, with the country witnessing similar attacks in recent weeks.
An ambulance on an emergency call was hit by rocks as it drove beneath a motorway flyover in the town of Aalborg, The Local reported.
Commissioner Lichtenstein added: “A resident directed our attention to [Slasher] and it can't be ruled out that someone may have been inspired by it.
“Just like all of those people who are going around doing it may have been inspired by our current case.”
Local businesses and individuals in Funen have been raising money as a reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
