THE multi-millionaire Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt made an expenses claim for just 24p, it emerged today.

The senior Tory, who is thought to be worth more than £5million, made mileage claims for 'constituency travel' totalling 0.52 miles, 0.8 miles and two lots of 0.87 miles in April.

This meant he received back totals of 24p, 36p, 39p and 40p respectively, as MPs can charge 45p per mile.

Mr Hunt, who is paid £135,527 per year as a cabinet minister, made a further six claims of less than £2 during the same month.

The figures, released by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), come as the under-fire MP for South West Surrey battles the junior doctors over pay and conditions.

They are the latest in a long line of miniscule expenses Mr Hunt has been paid by the taxpayer.

In the 2015/16 financial year, he made ten parking and mileage claims for less than £1 and a further 18 sub-£2 claims.

Back in May it was revealed he charged the taxpayer 27p for a 900 metre car journey last December in his constituency.

At the same time it was revealed the the-then Climate Change Secretary Amber Rudd claimed for an identically short journey.

But his was not the smallest claim by an MP in the most recent batch of expenses released by IPSA, after Amanda Solloaway made one for just 13p.

The Derby North representative travelled just 0.3miles in her constituency back in May, as well as making a similar journey and claiming 14p back.

The Tory MP for South Suffolk, James Cartlidge, claimed for two 0.4 mile journeys at a cost of 18 pence each, while the SNP’s Ian Blackford made an 11p claim for stationery.
