Family’s heartbreak as 11-year-old schoolboy dies suddenly just before he was about to start school
Ryan Hyde collapsed at his home on July 31
THE family of an 11-year-old boy who was due to start secondary school this week have shared their heartbreak after he tragically died during the summer holidays.
Ryan Hyde, from the West Midlands, collapsed at home on July 31 – and passed away in hospital later that night.
This week, his grandmother, Annie Tunstall, opened up about the anguish of losing her grandson.
Writing on Facebook, she said: “Today my beautiful grandson should be starting his first day in high school.
“But instead he is playing with the angels. How is this right?”
Now, the popular youngster’s friends and family are using to build a memorial to him, which will remember a “boy who had a smile for all”.
Family friend Jennifer Luff said: “Ryan was a beautiful 11-year-old boy inside and out. He was taken from us too soon. His light will shine forever.”
Meanwhile, staff at Ryan’s school have also spoken of their grief.
Bill Hague, chairman of governors at Edward the Elder Primary School, said: “I want to express our sorrow to the friends and family of Ryan Hyde following his tragic passing.
“Ryan was a lovely boy and a wonderful member of our school community who will be much missed by everyone at Edward the Elder.
“Our thoughts are with Ryan’s family and friends, and we hope they find the strength to get through this incredibly difficult time.”
Ryan’s death is not being treated as suspicious. A post-mortem has taken place and there will be an inquest on a date to be confirmed.
