Nintendo games coming to the Apple iPhone with launch of Super Mario Run
Two tech giants join forces as Japanese firm brings much-loved character to Apple devices
Apple has teamed up with Nintendo for the release of the Japanese firm's first ever smartphone Super Mario game.
The much-loved character will star in a game called Super Mario Run.
It's not a fully fledged Nintendo console-style gamee, but instead allows players to control Mario as he runs from left to right.
The game will come out at a set price so players "can play to their heart's content" and will be released in time for Christmas.
"I hope you look forward to it," said Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary designer of the Mario games and Nintendo's biggest titles, who appeared at the event.
"We could not be more honoured that Nintendo decided to bring Mario to the iPhone first," said Apple boss Tim Cook.
