Pokemon Go is coming to the Apple Watch for the first time, Apple reveals

Pokemon Go is coming to the Apple Watch for the first time, Apple revealed today.

Apple's Jeff Williams appeared on stage to announce the news at an event in San Francisco today.

The app will allow players to walk around and catch monsters without having to whip out their phone.

Jeff also announced the release of Watch OS 3, the latest operating system for the Watch, which features an easy way to call emergency services and a cool app called Breathe which helps users relax.

"Customers love the Apple Watch," Tim Cook said when discussing the original product's success.

John Hanke, CEO of "Pokemon" creator Niantic Labs, says the idea is to allow you to focus more on your surroundings and not the phone while playing. It's coming later this year.
Hanke says the game has been downloaded more than 500 million times, and people playing have collectively walked 4.6 billion kilometers (2.9 billion miles).
Hanke said, "It's certainly been a busy summer for us."

He announced the watch app at an Apple event in San Francisco on Wednesday. CEO Tim Cook joked that the watch app might let him finally break out of Level 2.
