Paige Doherty killer John Leathem on 24/7 watch over fears of revenge attacks
Wardens at Low Moss prison are closely monitoring monster to stop him self-harming or being lynched by other cons
KILLER John Leathem is being guarded round-the-clock in jail amid fears of revenge attacks for butchering Paige Doherty.
The monster, 32, is on suicide watch after becoming a hate figure for lags following his confession to slaughtering the teen.
Wardens are closely monitoring Leathem to stop him self-harming or being lynched by other cons at Low Moss nick.
A source revealed yesterday: “Child killers aren’t at top of the popularity list with other prisoners.
“He’s going to be watched closely by staff, given how serious the charge he’s pleaded guilty to is.
“What he did to that girl is horrific.
"The prison service wouldn’t be doing their job if they didn’t take precautions to stop anything happening to him.”
Leathem was returned to the nick in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, on Monday after admitting murdering schoolgirl Paige, 15.

The High Court in Glasgow heard she suffered 146 knife wounds and was stabbed 61 times during the frenzied attack at Leathem’s Delicious Deli in Clydebank.
The married dad of two wrapped her body in bin bags and stashed it in his garden shed before brazenly returning to serve customers. He later dumped the remains near a road.
Images of Paige’s injuries were too horrific to show the court, where mum Pamela Munro, 33, and stepdad Andrew, 34, sobbed alongside family and friends.
She is also tormented by the “awful realisation” she wasn’t there to save Paige.
Leathem faces life behind bars when he is sentenced later.
The Scottish Prison Service said it does not comment on individual lags.
