Cops investigating attempted abduction at RAF Marham say they have 20 new leads since airing a Crimewatch reconstruction
Some callers have even given police potential names for the two suspects
COPS have taken more than 20 calls following a Crimewatch appeal for information on the attempted abduction of a serviceman at RAF Marham.
Two men of Middle Eastern appearance - one of them wielding a knife - attacked the married airman near the Norfolk base and tried to drag him to a nearby car.
One of the suspects was knocked to the floor as the victim fought them off but the men then managed to get away in the car, which is believed to be a dark coloured people carrier.
The RAF Marham serviceman said on Sunday he was left fighting for his life and feared he may never see his family again.
Police now say they have received over 20 calls regarding e-fit images featured on last night's BBC Crimewatch.
They have also been given potential names of the suspects too.
Det Supt Paul Durham said: "We’re very pleased with the initial response following the programme.
"We’ve received just over 20 calls and officers are in the process of reviewing the quality of this information and prioritising potential leads.
"There has been some names put forward following last night’s appeal and these will be investigated and cross referenced with information we already hold."

They are continuing to appeal for anyone who can identify the vehicles seen in the CCTV image from a nearby shop.
Speaking about the July attack, the serviceman said: "The outcome could have been a lot more severe. But it's the 'what ifs' not being able to see my wife again, not being able to see my family again.
"I knew what I had to do to get away. I was fighting for my life.
"I won't let this stop me from doing things I need to do but it does affect you emotionally."
Police said the first suspect was aged between 20 and 30, about 6ft, athletic but stocky, with dark hair that was long on top and a well-groomed beard. He had a dark skin tone and wore casual clothing.
The second suspect was described as between 20 and 30 but younger than the first suspect and slimmer.
He was about 5ft 10ins, clean shaven with short dark hair and wore a white T-shirt and dark shorts.
Police have said they could not rule out terrorism as a potential motive for the attack.
