Greater Manchester Police appealing for information as man in Pakistani dress launches vicious assault on victim
THIS is the chilling moment a man is stabbed in the neck in a completely unprovoked attack – as he walks to work early in the morning.
Astonishing CCTV footage, recorded at 6am, shows the terrifying assault take place on a quiet Manchester street.
The attacker, described as a light-skinned Asian man dressed in South-East Asian or north Pakistani dress, can be first seen crossing a road after emerging from a wooded area in Levenshulme.
He is then shown walking towards the victim, a male in his thirties, who is completely oblivious of the horror to come.
The attacker then leaps forward repeatedly plunging a blade into his victim’s neck while hurling him against a fence in during the brutal attack.
He then flees in the direction he came from leaving his victim stunned on a street corner.
Detective Inspector Muz Kernain, from GMP’s city centre team has appealed for any witnesses of the incident on August 12 to come forward.
He said: “This footage shows just how shocking this attack was on an innocent man making his way to work.
“Luckily the victim has recovered from his injuries but this could have had a tragic ending, resulting in a family losing a son.
“We are hoping this footage will bring witnesses forwarded to help us find the man responsible.
“The attacker was wearing distinctive clothes and I would urge anyone who thinks they might know him, or may have seen him that day, to please call police.”
Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
