Under fire Labour MP Keith Vaz caught on CCTV meeting younger man at London hotel as he battles rent boy scandal

VICE-scandal MP Keith Vaz was caught on CCTV two years ago meeting a younger man at a hotel.

And one ex-worker at the London hotel said the married MP often arrived at short notice, sometimes with young men.

Mr Vaz, 59, brazenly turned up at the Commons today after refusing to resign over allegations he paid for sex with male prostitutes.

Footage of the night-time meeting at the Washington Mayfair on 4 June 2014 shows the MP, looking relaxed in a white shirt and trousers, in the hotel lobby at 8.51pm.

He apparently greets the young man who is wearing skinny jeans and a top before walking with him through the lobby. The pair can be seen nodding at each other as they make their way into the restaurant bar.

Both men are seen separately walking towards the rooms of the hotel. It is not known what they did next.

But after 31 minutes the young man is seen leaving a corridor leading to the rooms. He then leaves the hotel.

A further 21 minutes passes before Mr Vaz is seen leaving the hotel wearing his jacket and carrying a bag.

Sources at the Washington Mayfair said the Leicestershire East MP had been a frequent guest at the hotel, owned by Indian multi-millionaire Joginder Sanger.

Mr Sanger has been interviewed on TV alongside Mr Vaz before and appears to have encouraged the MP to stay at his four-star hotel.

One ex-worker said: “Keith Vaz would often arrive at very short notice.

“Sometimes there were other young men with him.

“There were a number of times when he didn’t stay the whole night. He would stay for just a few hours before checking out.

“He was coming in regularly and when we asked where was his booking he would just say ‘Have you spoken to Mr Sanger?’

A bar bill for the evening of 4 June shows the MP had a dinner of lemon sole, a J&B Rare whisky and bottle of still water for £54.95. At the foot of the receipt a note reads: “As per Mr J. Sanger.”

Booking registers reveal Mr Vaz stayed at the Washington on a number of occasions between September 2013 and December 2014 — including times where he checked in and out within a few hours on the same day.

Mr Vaz was apparently not charged for some of bookings with the balance on the rooms showing £0.00p. Staff were allegedly told the MP, accused by the Sunday Mirror of paying male escorts, was using the hotel rooms to “wash.”

Vaz arrived in the House of Commons on this afternoon and asked two questions.

He rose to his feet to “warmly welcome” new Home Secretary Amber Rudd to her job and later asked a question about Yemen during a Foreign Office statement.

The brash appearance came after the PM intervened in the spiralling scandal while at the G20 summit in China.

Asked if the Leicester MP had fallen below the standards required of an MP, Mrs May said: “I have always been clear throughout my political career that what is important for people is that they feel they are able to have confidence in their politicians.

“And that’s what I think we all have a duty to provide to those who elect us.

“What Keith does is for Keith, and any decisions he wishes to make are for him.”
