Danny Cipriani makes clear he is NOT England rugby player arrested over rape claims
DANNY Cipriani has rubbished claims he is the England rugby player arrested on suspicion of raping a teenager.
The Bath player, 34, retweeted a public statement made by wife Victoria, 41, quashing rumours he is the unnamed suspect.
She posted on her Twitter describing her "great alarm and distress" at being approached at their home this morning.
Victoria, who married Danny last year, said some journalists had "wrongly" guessed her husband was involved in the rape case.
The Sun is not one of the media outlets who approached Danny and Victoria at their home.
And we can confirm that Danny is not the player arrested.
Victoria said: "I presume they are making that wild guess because I am the same age as the woman is reported to be in the stories about that case.
"This is completely unwarranted and wholly unacceptable. It is ridiculous, in fact, but sadly it’s also typical of the intrusion we often have to deal with."
Victoria also explained her and Danny have not been arrested and do not have "anything to do with the reported case whatsoever".

She continued: "We do not know anything about it.
"This is hugely upsetting for so many reasons. Please share and thanks for taking note of this."
The incorrect rumour came after police arrested an England star on suspicion of raping a teenager who was out celebrating her birthday.
A 41-year-old woman was also held on suspicion of administering a substance with intent to cause a sexual offence.
Both suspects have since been bailed while investigations continue.
It is believed the alleged victim had planned to get a cab home with mates but instead accepted a lift from the athlete after a night clubbing in Manchester on Saturday.
RAPE CLAIMS
He allegedly drove her away from the city centre to a property where they spent the night.
The woman was discovered the following morning in a confused state by the homeowner, who called 999.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Officers were called shortly before 11am on Sunday 9th January to a report of a sexual assault on a female.
“A woman in her late teens was reported to have been sexually assaulted. She is currently being supported by specialist officers.
“A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and a 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of administering a substance with intent to cause a sexual offence.
