HOME SECRETARY Amber Rudd was tonight blasted for risking British lives as furious hauliers demanded the Government get tough over Calais.

Road Haulage Association chief Richard Burnett said it was a matter of time before someone dies at the port because of the migrant chaos.

He told the Sun women drivers had already been threatened with rape – and truckers were leaving their jobs rather than put their life at risk by driving across the Channel.

The blast came as holidaymakers and truckers faced a fresh day of chaos tomorrow – as French shopkeepers, farmers and hauliers prepare to block roads out of the port.

They are demanding the French authorities dismantle the ‘Jungle’ refugee camp.

Mr Burnett told the Sun: “We need the UK Government to work with the French to get a plan.

“There still isn’t a plan in place. We need a timescale. When will the camp be moved?

"When will there be more police?

“With word leaking out that the Jungle could go in October, the desperation of the migrants is going to increase tenfold.

"We need far more gendarmes to contain the violence.

“I do fear it’s only a matter of time before we see the death of a driver.

“Look at the escalating violence – it’s not being contained.”

Today it emerged migrant gangs were now targeting tourists in their bid to stowaway across the Channel.

Ruthless migrants are throwing large objects at passing cars – then trying to sneak onto lorries caught up in the tailbacks.

A journalist was among those injured last week when he was forced to steer into the path of a juggernaut when a tree trunk was thrown at their vehicle.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd called the development “extremely concerning”.
