Gang of teens arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after raid and arson at country pub
Victim was alerted to arson attempt after smelling burning
FOUR teenagers - including a 14-year-old boy - have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an armed raid on a country pub.
A staff member was threatened with a knife and the pub was set on fire during Friday's attack.
Police said that staff at the Greyhound Inn, in the Forest of Dean, were locking up when a lady knocked on the door and said she had broken down.
Four males then forced their way into the pub and assaulted a member of staff before stealing a number of watches and money from a safe.
During the attack the staff member was kicked, punched and threatened with a knife.
The gang made off after setting fire to the pub.
The victim, who did not suffer injuries was alerted to the smell of burning and called emergency services.
A 19-year-old man, two 16-year-old males and a 14-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in custody.
A statement from the police force said: "Police have this evening arrested four teenagers in connection with an armed robbery and arson at the Greyhound Inn in Newnham-on-Severn.
"Anyone who may have information about this incident should call 101 and quote incident 20 of 3 September."
