THERESA May will tell leaders at the G20 that Britain is open for business as she drives towards a post-Brexit deal with Australia.

The Prime Minister has vowed to make the nation a “global leader” following the EU vote as she embarks on high-level talks today at the China summit.

She will use the opportunity to tell the world’s richest nations that Britain is a “bold, confident, outward-looking country”

She will use the opportunity to tell the world’s richest nations that Britain is a “bold, confident, outward-looking country” as she starts exploratory talks on trade deals.

Mrs May, who has ruled out a snap election before 2020, used a TV interview with Andrew Marr to say she would not “pretend that it’s all going to be plain sailing”.

She added that “we must be prepared for the fact that there may be some difficult times ahead” despite positive economic figures last week.

The PM, however, will sit down for talks with US President Barack Obama, India’s Prime Minister

Narendra Modi and China’s President Xi during the two-day summit in Hangzhou.

She will today meet with Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull, who has already signalled his country wants a trade deal with Britain.

It comes as UK officials hold talks in Canberra with their Australian counterparts about establishing a trade negotiating team. New Zealand will also lend a top negotiator to the British team.
