However, when Channel 4 tweeted: "Rebecca’s not too impressed with Sam’s dress sense - should’ve kept the clothes off perhaps", Sam – her date on the show – replied: "Snobs! I never chose to be won!"

And when another viewer wrote: "Cannot stand this girl's voice on #Naked Attraction (sic)", he responded: "Try being forced to go on a date with her."

The viewer replied: "I felt sorry for you", to which Sam wrote: "Paha cheers!".

Other viewers' cruel jibes saw Rebecca, who has been single for a year, labelled "butters", a "freak" and one even called her a "s***".

One wrote: "There’s shallow then there’s Rebecca."

Rebecca recalls: "I was disgusted that people could be so rude, but not altogether surprised.

"I’d known when I applied to the show that viewers would comment on my body, so I was prepared for the backlash.

"But I thought hiding behind their laptops and phones spouting hate was cowardly and pathetic.

"I couldn’t understand why people would try and bring me down when the show’s all about celebrating our bodies and how different they all are."

Baffled Sam responded: "I don't have any interest in her or the programme.

"The date was quite uncomfortable."

Despite the negative remarks, Rebecca, who’s 5ft8 and a size 10 – maintains she "loved" her experience on the show, though she is going to go back to dating "the old-fashioned way".

The dating game show, hosted by Anna Richardson, aired from July to August and saw contestants select a date from six naked men or women.

Rebecca, from Nottingham, said: "I refuse to let the trolls get me down. Appearing on the show was a positive and liberating experience, I bet the keyboard warriors who insulted me have none of the body confidence I do.

"I plan to ignore the hurtful comments – including Sam’s – and concentrate on the compliments I received instead.

"I might not have found love, but I’ve come away feeling better than ever about my body, and would urge anyone else to go for it."

Rebecca has been single for a year after a relationship with an ex boyfriend ended in August 2015.

She said she has always felt comfortable being naked and having "naked days" in her home and decided to go on the show to inspire other women to celebrate their bodies.

When the show aired she was "flattered" by positive responses from viewers, including one stating: "Rebecca could’ve done much better, she was lovely."

Another tweeted that she was "far too hot for all of them".

Rebecca says plenty of men have contacting her to ask her for dates, but she plans to go back to dating "the old fashioned way" as she doesn’t want to date anyone who is "only interested because they’ve seen her naked".

Rebecca remains positive she will find love – as a psychic told her she will meet someone next year.

She added: "Appearing naked on telly was great for my own self-confidence but I don’t think it’s the key to finding love – especially when trolls are determined to bring you down."

Sam did not respond to a request for comment.
