A QUIET marina is destroyed by the powerful wash from a cruise ship's propellers as it sails out of port in Italy.
Small boats are swamped and the pontoons are ripped from their moorings and overturn, dragging several pleasure craft underwater.
CCTV footage emerged of the incident as the 133,500-ton Carnival Vista left the port of Messina, Sicily, last Sunday.
It is said to have caused almost £200,000 in damages to the small Marina del Nettuno nearby.
The port authority has launched an investigation into the incident.
It was unclear why the cruise liner sailed so close to the marina as the video showed the sea and weather conditions were calm.
The 1,062ft-long Vista is the newest and largest vessel in Miami-based Carnival Cruise Line's fleet.
It carries almost 4,000 passengers and features a full IMAX movie theatre, a water park and an aerial cycling track which suspends riders 150ft above the sea.
