Counter terror cops hunt foul-mouthed Jeremy Corbyn supporter who launched a vile tirade threatening to HANG moderate Labour MP Ruth Smeeth

COUNTER terror cops are hunting a fanatical Jeremy Corbyn supporter who has threatened to hang a Jewish female Labour MP from a gallows, The Sun can reveal.

Stoke-on-Trent North's new MP Ruth Smeeth is receiving special protection from cops after the death threat.

The 37-year-old heaped blame for her and terrified staff’s ordeal on the hard-left Labour leader for doing little to stop spiralling anti-semitics and other-hate filled abuse.

Ms Smeeth told The Sun: “I very much hold Jeremy personally responsible”.

The chilling threat was delivered to her in a warped 1,000 word rant via a Facebook message – seen by The Sun, and reproduced here in part.

In it, the anonymous fanatic also branded her a “Yid c***”, “a CIA agent”, and “a f*****g traitor”.

The post ended by declaring: “Ruth Smeeth is British and from my perspective since treason is still a capital offence in Britain, the gallows would be a fine and fitting place for this Dyke piece of Yid s*** to swing from”.

Fearing the Corbyn fanatic is dangerous, police in Parliament passed the investigation over to the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

Its detectives launched a manhunt and have asked for Facebook’s help to identify them.

Police have also installed high level security protections in Ms Smeeth’s constituency office and homes, including panic buttons and CCTV cameras.

The disturbing revelation heaps more pressure on the under fire Opposition boss to end vile attacks.

Speaking for the first time about the ordeal, Ms Smeeth said: “You can’t help but have a human reaction when you see comments as hateful as this.

“What concerns me most is the impact it has on my staff, who see it before me.

“But I am quite clear that I will not be intimidated by any of these people. I was elected to serve my constituents and I have a job to do.”

Issuing a fresh demand on Mr Corbyn, the MP and anti-racism campaigner added: “I expect Jeremy to show true leadership, which means calling out individuals at times by name to say what they are doing it is unacceptable.

“He must stand up and say enough is enough, and he has done nowhere near enough yet.”

The investigation is one of two launched by police into a torrent of hate launched against Ms Smeeth this summer.

The former director of anti-racist organisation Hope Not Hate publicly confronted Mr Corbyn in June when she walked out of the launch of his ‘whitewash’ anti-semitism report in tears after being harangued by another of his hardcore supporters.

When Ms Smeeth called on Mr Corbyn to resign after the incident, she was immediately targeted by a vast amount of sickening tirades - getting 20,000 abusive messages via social media in just 12 hours.

The abuse began from hard-left Corbyn supporters, but spread to far right extremists and now also Islamist radicals.

A Met Police spokesman told The Sun: "On Wednesday, 13 July, allegations of malicious communication and threats to kill made via social media were reported to the Metropolitan Police Service.

"After an assessment, an investigation was started by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command in liaison with the Parliamentary & Diplomatic Protection Command.

"That investigation is ongoing.

"At this stage, whilst there have been no arrests, a number of lines of enquiry are being actively pursued."

Mr Corbyn held a leadership election rally in Ms Smeeth’s constituency town of Stoke today.
