My son, 10, couldn’t get out of bed after painful op – but surprise visitor changed everything

A News UK spokeswoman said: “No parent would choose for their child to be in hospital at Christmas and we’re really happy to support this very worthwhile cause”.

They made it despite Covid putting paid to many of the usual festive events arranged by Hull Hospitals charity, WISHH.

His mum, Ann-Louise, 37, said: “When Lewis came to see him he was so happy. It’s the first time he’d smiled in days.”

Celebrity dog lover Paul O’Grady backs our appeal.

He said: “I know the happiness a four-legged friend can bring.
