Chef sues Heston Blumenthal over wrist pain from making thousands of sweets
A PASTRY chef is suing Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck restaurant after she was left with crippling RSI from churning out thousands of sweet treats.
Sharon Anderson, 30, claims her wrist pain was caused by “fast, arduous and repetitive” tasks like she was “on a production line”.
Her work in the kitchen of the three Michelin-starred venue in Bray, Berks, included putting 400 sweets a day into bags using tweezers.
She also had to make chocolate playing cards before they set too hard, and put hundreds of fingertip pinches on to mushroom logs.
Ms Anderson, of Letterkenny, Ireland, is suing The Fat Duck Ltd for £200,000 damages.
Her lawyers told the High Court in London that the restaurant failed to allow sufficient rest periods or support.
The company denies liability, with its lawyers saying her work was “routine” and she was given all the support and assistance she needed.
The hearing was adjourned, with a trial set for next May.
