Artist carves breathtakingly beautiful miniature sculptures in PENCIL tips
Chien-Chu Lee's intricate works include the Great Wall of China and the Eiffel Tower
FOOTAGE of Taiwan artist Chien-Chu Lee shows the genius at work as he peers through his magnifying glass to create a series of ornate miniature sculptures using pencil tips.
The 42-year-old artist has been creating the breathtaking pieces for the past six years at his home in Yunlin County in western Taiwan.
Since starting in 2010, pencil-lover Lee's intricate sculptures have grown to include the Great Wall of China and France's Eiffel Tower.
Lee's minuscule sculptures can be as small as 0.1mm long, and each take hours upon hours of work.
He has carved the entire English alphabet into a 0.5mm lead pencil, which he says is his narrowest piece of work.
Speaking on his craft, the dedicated artist said: "The pencil that I use for my art is very common.
"It can be bought at any ordinary bookstore or stationery shop.
"The subject matter I use for my creations can mostly be categorised as a Chinese style, with folklore characteristics," he said.
The self-taught sculptor told the : "I started out trying to make tiny figurines as toys for my children using bamboo sticks.
"Later I was inspired by Dalton Ghetti, so I changed my media to pencil and lead.
"Since then I have put a lot of time into it and have quickly become a master of this art form.
"Although I use normal pencils to make these carvings, the result is anything but ordinary.
"I find inspiration in the everyday objects around me.
"I try to give my best every time because I never know if there is a next time.
"So I will push my limits to create something beyond your imagination."
