Kidnapped couple warn Taliban will execute them if their demands aren’t met in harrowing footage
Shock clip is the first time Caitlin Coleman and Joshua Boyle have been seen in years after being abducted in 2012
aA WESTERN couple held hostage by the Taliban for the past four years have made a harrowing appearance in one of the group's videos.
The pair appeared on camera, warning the extremists will “execute us – women and children included” if officials do not follow their demands.
Joshua Boyle and Caitlin Coleman were abducted by the militants in 2012, and can be seen demanding changes to the Afghan government’s policy on the execution of prisoners in the propaganda footage.
American Caitlin, 31, does not raise her eyes to the camera while delivering the chilling message.
Her partner Joshua, 33, can be heard saying: "We have been told that the Afghan government has executed some of their prisoners... our captors are frightened by the idea of further execution or further death."
The Canadian, originally from Toronto, seems tired and pale in the footage – the first he has been seen in since 2014.
The pair were kidnapped while travelling in Afghanistan four years ago in 2012.
In July, Caitlin’s parents revealed she managed to send a letter to them.
She reportedly wrote to inform them she had given birth for a second time while in captivity.
Neither of the pair's children have made appearances in any Taliban propaganda.
